Today is a remarkable day! I just had this intuition of being pregnant and just got a faint positive result yesterday with my home kit so I checked for an online appointment at http://www.primehealth.ae for OB-GYNE consultation.
9:20am at OB-GYNE, 5TH FLOOR, PMC
I met Dr. Geannie Dimaculangan, a Filipina obstetrician-gynecologist in Prime Medical Center, Deira Branch. She is a very kind and assistive doctor which I can recommend to anyone.
She started to ask me questions regarding my concerns and complaints, so I told her everything I am feeling with regards to my anticipated pregnancy.
She gave my Prenate tablets and ordered for me a blood test called beta-HCG. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a pregnancy hormone that increases its level as the pregnancy progresses, it signifies that the fetus is growing just fine from time to time.
Our company health insurance is Mednet and that I payed 20% of Consultation fee (9aed) and 20% of bood test (Beta-HCG) which is 27aed.
I went downstairs (ground floor) for blood sample extraction. The nurse phlebotomist hit my left antecubital medial vein first because it’s so prominent. But soon as the vacutainer was pricked on my skin, the vein just slips off its position and it’s gone. She withdrawn the needle with failure to draw some blood samples.
The nurse tried my right arm using 3cc syringe, at first,she cannot hit the medial vein fast but she tried her best to hit it for the last time, and she did.
Far as I know, it really happens to some patients wherein the vein looks so good and so prominent but sometimes they are gone because of the tension felt on peripheral limbs and the veins used to collapse when the hands are cold and clammy.
Best thing to do is to hydrate the patient first, tighten the torniquet a little more, tap the vein first and keep it warm, so that the veins will not stiffen rather it will relax and more blood will flow freely
